The real review:  I love Bruce Lee.  This is no Bruce Lee flick.  It is however a pretty damn good modern kung fu thriller.  Donnie Yen reprises the Chen Zhen role well and Qi Shu is a lovely distraction from all the chaos and fight scenes.  If you’re down with the Chen Zhen legend, you’ll want to catch this one with a blunt and a friend.

A pretty decent documentary about the growth of use and cultivation of marijuana in western USA(CA).  Stories of D.E.A. raids, clips from politicians and more splatter this film from start to finish with no direction other than the obvious retaliation to the ‘Drug War’ waged against the ‘good guys.’  Interesting views from both sides of these idiotic political groups kept me from turning it off, a couple joints while watching it kept me laughing at the insanity.

Juggalo Scott:  It was good for un-animated version of the toons.  The only thing I didn’t like was all the deleted scenes and parts fro the original story line.  They seemed to pick out the best of all, and cram it into a hour and half flick….. Two Bong Tokes!

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, and rocking your socks off to the ends of the earth, comes Sadhana. If you like Tool, you’re going to LOVE Sadhana.  I got the pleasure of talking to band member Rients Huitema back when we(808SP) ran the FreakinFM(internet radio station) project and I’ll never forget the kindness he showed both the station and me. I decided to give em a shout and an interview. This is most of the interview with Rients. After you’ve read the interview, run over to their Myspace and take a go at the tunes. Scarekrowe: Hey Rients.. first off I wanna thank you for giving me a few of your time. How the hell you been bro?

Rients: I’ve been really well, enjoying the sparkling spring days in Melbourne. 

Scarekrowe: *chucklez* Yah, you guys get the summer while we freeze over here in the US! It seems like ages since last time we were in contact. Do you remember doing the voiceovers for FreakinFM? 

Rients: Yep! That was my first voiceover so it was a little surreal and exciting. Very fun. 

Scarekrowe: Well I certainly appreciated it. Made me feel like an allstar! I think you were one of the first bands I had approached about doing something like that. I wish the FFM project would have gone further than it did. So tell me something man, you guys have a HEAVY tool sound. Are you a fan? 

Rients: Totally a fan of Tool. I was really shocked and blown away when I first heard Aemema, even after growing up listening to bands like Pink Floyd, The Police, and later Rage Against The Machine and Smashing Pumpkins. They rocked my world and really made me think about what I could do with music. 

Scarekrowe: *MOSH* Yah, ditto on that. Are there any other ‘superstar’ bands that have influenced you over the years? Floyd is one of my favorites by the way. 

Rients: I loved Michael Jackson as a kid, but my first real love was Pink Floyd I think. Dark Side Of The Moon was the beez nees to me. After that I went through a huge gangsta rap stage loving Snoop, Dre, Nate Dogg, and that has pretty much continued for me. I then started listening to Pearl Jam and my all time idols – The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Tool and Bjork came in later and these days I am loving Karnivool and Cog. 

Scarekrowe: NICE on the Chili Peppers. I’ve always looked up to Anthony and the way he battled his personal problems, and Flea is AMAZING! Super wow on the Michael Jackson too. It’s funny, but a lot of rockers I have talked to over the years have always thrown his name around a bit when I’ve asked about influences. SUPER cool man. So with all the bands coming out of Oz and especially Melbourne now, who is your favorite, not just their tunes, but their performances as well? (aside from Sadhana of course *grinz*) 

Rients: HeHeHE! Uhmmm.. Well I’d have to say Karnivool is the band I really enjoy seeing. They are brillian in every facet of music entertainment live and recorded. Also Plo Club is a mad hip-hop. Urban Monk of Polo Club features on the ‘The Real’(available on iTunes). ‘The Real’ is our latest EP by the way. 

Scarekrowe: You know, it’s SUPER mad that you like som hip hop too. I have to get with you later about a list of good groups from Oz. You probably already know, but I have a HUGE range of music genres I’m in to. So tell me something man, if you could accomplish ANYTHING with your music, what would it be…. or should I say anything MORE? 

Rients: Just to share it with as many people as possible. there is no feeling I like more, than to facilitating a good vibratin through an audience. To hear about people digging our tunes is a mad buzz and just to listen to a track that I’m personally happy with is great. Also I just want to get people a little more acquired to a wider range of music tastes. It’s good and almost necissary to write a memorable song, but I like playing with different styles and hopefully opening people’s eyes up to other realms of music. 

Scarekrowe: Nods! Ok man, last question and I’m going to put you on the spot. *chucklez* Who’s your favorite ‘hangin’ buddy from Sadhana and why?  

Rients: HA HA! Well… going for the time factor, I’ve been hanging with James Mileto for like 14 years now in an array of different music projects, so I guess I’m kinda over hanging with him. Paul Ried, I’ve been jamming with in different projects for like 7 years so I’m kinda sick of him. I guess I’d have to say James Stuart is my personal favorite. We’ve been working on editing our upcoming DVD release so he keeps me entertained! 

Scarekrowe: Nice man. I can’t wait to get the new tunes! I’m going to have to get the new ‘The Real.’ I’ve been so far out of the loop I didn’t even realize you had a new one out. Not sure if you were aware or not, but a good friend of mine over there turned me on to your tunes, Shelley Marks. You familiar with that name? She was helping us out with the FFM project at one point. 

Rients: Ahh, good old Shelley Marks. Not ringing a bell, but I’m sure I’ll know her if I look her up on ‘Stalkbook.’ Soooo bad with names. It really feels great to hear the people are spreading Sadhana news. I appreciate that kind of thing to no end! 

Scarekrowe: I know I said last question, but do you guys have any plans on invading the US anytime soon and if so, when/where? 

Rients: We’d love to, but no plans. We are looking for US distribution at the moment. We are self managing right now and trying to find the right contacts. 

Scarekrowe: Nods. Well when you have word on that, do let me know. I’d love to be at least a part of that, especially letting folks know you all were coming! Rients, you were VERY kind to the FFM project when I first met you online. You’re down to earth, and of course the Sadhana tunes kicked ass. I want to thank you for your time. People have NO idea what a rockers life is like, and how busy they are. Most juggle jobs and their bands just to stay afloat. You’re a straight up dude, and I’m glad to have met yah, SUPER glad actually. 

Rients: Dito, I love your styles. You’re doing mad things for the industry. 

Scarekrowe: KUDOS on the new album. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Any ‘shoutouts’ you’d like to make before I run off and get this article wrote?
